New features in Tability: Improving connections between strategy and execution

Tability allows you to connect your outcomes to tasks — natively or in whatever project management tool you use.

We preach over and over: Outcomes over outputs! Prioritise your outcomes over outputs!

Yes, BUT that's perhaps a bit of an overstatement.

Outcomes are important. It's why we've built Tability. We want to make it easier for teams to rally around outcomes and their OKRs. It's crucial that you work toward something, and not "throw things at the wall and see if they stick." Having a proper north pole and goals that you can measure, give you goalposts and milestones that allow you to reflect on your progress and your work in a better, more productive, way.

However, every strategy needs an execution plan as well; two sides of the same coin. The strategy guides you to understand 'what' we are all trying to accomplish and the execution is 'how' we get there.

Without outcomes we don't know where we're headed or if we've done a good job. If you don't link outputs to those outcomes, it's hard to know if what you're working on the right things.

So while we're all about outcomes here at Tability, we also know that the task management side of things is a crucial part of the equation Tability is built to solve. In fact, some of our most requested features are usually task management features.

We already have a suite of features that allows Tability to track your tasks and projects, but we aren't here to replace your project management tools like Jira, Asana, Clickup, etc. Those tools are already great at what they do. In fact we have integrations with all those tools so that you can use them with Tability together 😇 (see: Tability integrations)

When it comes to tasks, we want to A. allow you to link your outcomes directly to outputs in a lightweight, but efficient way and B. give context to your outcome no matter where the information (or task) is tracked.

This week we're stoked to share a few new features, that tackle both A and B. Improvements to the way tasks work natively in Tability and new integrations with your favorite task management tools as well.

We're always building stuff! Here's a rundown of all the latest features in Tability.

Customise initiative states for your workspace

An important part of planning and executing on tasks is building your workflow. We've made it much easier to customise workflows by hiding or renaming initiative states.

Go to Workspace settings > Customise
Click on the visibility toggle next to each state to show/hide it in your workspace.
Rename states if needed
Click Save to apply your changes

These changes will automatically adjust the columns available in the Kanban view of your plans, and it will also update the list of states available for initiative transitions 👇

Linear integration

We know how much you all love Linear! That's why we've made it a priority to get this connection set up asap. You can now connect Linear issues and projects to Tability! The new integration will allow you to work in your Linear instance and have issues and projects automatically updated for you.

Our project management/tasks linking integrations are some of our most popular. People love linking their goals from Tability with their Jira, Asana, and Clickup tasks. It makes for a seamless experience where you don't have to update your tickets twice! Managers and leadership especially love this because they don't have to go digging through different tools to find your tasks either 💯
